An Amerikan Family: The Shakurs and the Nation They Created by Santi Elijah Holley
4.0
Basically a complete history of the Black resistance movement in the US through the Shakur family, a group of like minded freedom fighters who adopted the name. Sort of mind boggling with names in the beginning, the book settled in with a great retelling of Assata Shakur’s story and ended with a lot of good information (which i didn’t know) about Tupac, son of one of the originals family members. Taught me that i live about a block or so from what was the Harlem office of the BPP. My neighborhood is steeped in history.
