I can see why I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter is a standout in YA even though I personally didn't enjoy this book. Julia has a lot of strong opinions, largely negative, and reading from her perspective brought back all the ways I behaved as a teenager that in hindsight I regret. As this is a sign that her POV voice was well done, I'm leaving off a rating.
