You know when a book, a story and the characters all burrow so deep under your skin to take up residence and all you can think about, live and breathe is their world? Well that's exactly what Claire Butlers newest novel 'Of Sky and Embers' has done to me.

This is the second book in her Divine Tapestry series and it packs a punch. I think I experienced every single emotion known to man within the pages. We pick up Henri, Malik, Thalia, Ele and Kala's stories exactly where the first book left off, and from the very first word you are taken on a magical yet fraught journey.

The overarching plot is a deadly trial between Kings, Henri's life in the balance at the sheer amount of people wanting the foreign King dead, and will do anything to achieve it. But with betrayals, secrets and death in the mix, Henri's trust wavers and he finds himself on a knife's edge.

With Gods and Goddesses playing their own game on the side, it's anyone's guess how this will end.

I read this book in one sitting,  I couldn't put it down, I had to know what happened next. Once again Claire's world building is exceptional and I was thrown back into the arid and unforgiving desert, I was next to our heroes as they fought battles, had soft moments and cried when they did. It's a powerful book that has a happily ever after,  but not for everyone.

If you love:

⌛️ Found family
⌛️ Deadly trials
⌛️ Multiple POV
⌛️ Touch him and die
⌛️ MM with a side of MF and MMF
⌛️ Politics and intrigue
⌛️ Middle Eastern inspired world building
⌛️ Battles and epic fight scenes
⌛️ Elemental magic and Gods & Goddesses

then you need to read this series. If you enjoy fantasy, this is not to be missed, it is gritty, gorgeous, breaks your heart and puts its shattered pieces back together again, whole but never the same.

Thank you Claire for giving me the incredible experience in reading 'Of Sky and Embers' prior to the official publishing date.
