Trusting Calvin: How a Dog Helped Heal a Holocaust Survivor's Heart by Sharon Peters

5.0

The first half of this book is a quick rundown of a man's experience during the Holocaust. It's quick, with just enough detail to make your heart ache, but not so much that you are completely depressed. The second half of the book explains how this man--who lost his sight after being beaten by German soldiers--decided to get a seeing eye dog, even though every dog reminded him of the frightening German Shepherds in camp.

It's a sweet book of forgiveness and tolerance and patience.
