PHEW WHAT A RIDE. I have read almost 20 Sanderson books in 2024; my goal was to start with Mistborn and work my way through the cosmere until Wind & Truth. I have made it (with a few special projects left), and I have had so much fun. Some of these characters are in my heart forever.
Hands down, Sanderson has incomparable world building. The cosmere has to be one of the most complex, comprehensive and thought-out fantasy worlds out there. I also love these characters so much. I feel like I’ve been on a true journey with all of them, and genuinely feel a sense of pride when I think of some of their growth. The emotional payoff was well worth the build-up and the moments where Sanderson subtly connects to other cosmere books is just so damn gratifying. I loved the different structure of this book, and it definitely helped move the pace along.
4.5 stars. This is almost perfect. There is someee filler and it probably didn’t need to be quite as long, but wow Sanderson almost never fails to deliver a plot payoff. The journey is always worth it.
