𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀.

This book felt deeply personal and profound. 

While some essays were relatable, others were informative. This book provoked the full range of emotions: despair, hope, humor, depression, longing, and love. 

I thoroughly enjoyed the format of this book, where a topic was introduced, followed by intertwining and reflective thoughts, and concluded with a rating out of five stars.

While I haven’t watched his podcast, I have read a few John Green fiction novels - and he certainly excels at capturing the essence of humans. 

Throughout the random topics from his favorite band to viral meningitis to Dr Pepper, he explores the impact of human connection, the uncertainty of life, and unexpected pockets of hope. 

“𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜—𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧𝙨, 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩-𝙨𝙤𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩 𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙪𝙨.”

While some essays didn’t draw me in as much as others, they each had a sense of vulnerability. I appreciate and respect Green for imbuing so much of himself into this, as I related to so many of his thoughts.

Overall, I recommend this book! I would encourage everyone to read this slowly, letting each essay settle before moving on. It’s not one to speed through, but to savor.
