If it’s been a while since you’ve read David Copperfield, DON’T read it before you read this one. I haven’t read it maybe since high school? so I remembered most of the major plot points but not a lot of the details which I think really elevated my reading experience by NOT knowing what exactly was coming next. This is a really beautiful yet harrowing story of growing up in poverty, and watching your loved ones fall victim to drug addiction while trying to be “the one who makes it out.” I can’t believe I’ve never read any Kingsolver before? Loved this book.
