This was a well-written and heart-breaking novel about human trafficking.
Thanh Dao is held captive on a remote farm by a man who forces her to be his wife. He takes away her name, forcing her to answer to "Jane". He takes away her dignity, never allowing her to close a door and recording her constantly on inbuilt cameras. There are rules that she cannot break. For every rule broken, he takes away one of her possessions until she has nothing left of her own.
Be warned there are references to human trafficking, sexual assault and violence.
