Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh

Massive thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy to review.

This… this wasn’t as good as Thirteen. However, it was still a very fast paced read that had me asking a lot of questions throughout the book.

Eddie is his usual self: saving lives yet being a trickster at the same time. Hes surrounded himself with a cast of very diverse characters who all bring some level of expertise to the law firm. Lake is the one I’m most intrigued by.

Ruby was a strange character. I felt sorry for her background story. She went through hell as a kid and god knows, that’s got to mess a person up as they get older. However, in no way does that excuse her actions.
I mean. DRUGGING A KID? KILLING ALISONS MOTHER? There’s surely got to be better ways of getting the family out of the house without resorting to those things?
But like I said, her past has got her all twisted.

It was interesting reading this book from 4/5 POVS, but I think it got a little too much at times. Sure, it was nice having a sneak peek at what the side characters were doing behind the scenes, but I think there were a couple of chapters we could have gone without.

And the ending? Left very open, there’s definitely potential for a sequel there, but I also found the ‘reveal’ to be very underwhelming. It was over in a page and I was just sat here like “oh. Is that it?”

However, it was a book that I just couldn’t put down because of how well Cavanagh writes suspense and action. And I really did want to find out what happened. This is the second Eddie Flynn book I’ve read (the first being Thirteen), and I plan on reading the rest of the series from the very beginning. The Eddie Flynn series can be read as standalones, but I want to get to know the characters a little bit more.
