Man, I really love Emily St. John Mandel. She has such a recognizable voice and paints such a vivid, emotional picture. I don’t know if this was extra triggering because of us living through a pandemic, but I think this will stick with me forever. Highly recommended reading.

The entire premise is life post-catastrophic pandemic but some of the scenes were especially salient like when Clark is recounting the moment he found out about the pandemic and the beginning of the airport settlement. This was the scene that was really emotional for me
