I've always had trouble imagining the world that communism seemed to pitch. A society where we don't own anything? How would that work? I thought this until Marx points out in his manifesto that we don't truly own anything in the capitalist world, either.
Most criticisms of communism I could think of are dismantled thoroughly by Marx in this piece. I don't know what I identify as politically but I know that what he suggests seems a lot better than what we have now. The Communist Manifesto is easy to read, easy to understand, and hard to really refute. It's moving and motivating in a really harsh world, and I think it's unfortunate that the right has done such a good job of demonizing the ideology, but I'm happy to see my generation starting to entertain the idea.
