I'm not convinced Katee Robert has read the myth of Psyche and Eros. Because this was just a marriage of convenience story with the names Psyche and Eros slapped on. LIKE WHERE ARE MY TASKS!!!!!! AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT TO THE STORY!!!!!
Psych and Eros is very similar Beauty & the Beast (or, more closely, East of the Sun and West of the Moon to be more specific) and despite Eros being an assassin... none of those elements are present. Also I was really hoping book 2 would delve a bit more into world building than book 1, but I'm realizing... there's no world to truly build here.
The spicy parts are good and fun, and maybe I'm being too much of a hater and should just let it go and enjoy this book. Unfortunately, I have never been that kind of person.
