Lost and Wanted by Nell Freudenberger
4.0
There’s no other book I can compare this one to, making it a wee bit difficult for me to craft its review.
Anyways, Lost and Wanted is certainly about grief and the ghosts — both figurative and perhaps literal — that haunt us when we lose a loved one. It’s also a story of how science can explain so much on grand scales and, yet, is often inadequate when understanding our everyday humanness. We also have narratives about families, how they come in all shapes and shades, build us up, let us down, and are forever a part of our patchwork.
Ultimately, this novel feels like a year or two in the life of a group of ordinary people going through ordinary things that are so trying, tragic, and true for us all.
