Wasn't expecting this to be such a slow read for me. Struggled a lot to keep reading. This books content is delicious. It's feminine, raw, primal. Womanhood, motherhood. To be seen, to let go. To embrace your inner rage. It was yummy.
But there are just so many slow parts that really hurt the book for me. The writing style is very free flow, rambly. Borderline poetic. There are no quotations around dialogue, one of my largest pet peeves. It didn't capture my attention the way I wanted to be stolen by this novel. However. That said, it's one of my most notated fiction books in some time. It has some really inspiring, beautiful and relatable quotes. Even from a non-mother.
I may be wrong, but I want to say this book is almost intended to be written by the girls about Nightbitch. As if Nightbitch recounted these moments to them as they wrote things down and then published this novel. If so, then the stylized writing style makes sense.
