I'm not a huge fan of YA or Sci-fi but I love historical novels, which is why I continued. There was a slow buildup to the actual storyline. There didn't seem like much reason or explanation for the time travel making present day and the past seem like two different storylines. I could see where Zetta Elliot was going Kindred by Octavia Butler meets modern day YA, I guess. This book ended in a way to force you to read the sequel. Because of that I will be reading it. Hopefully the pieces will connect.
