This is another book that I first heard of from the FB group, Second World War Club: The Little Wartime Library. I had no idea that there was a virtual village living in the Bethnal Green subway tunnels to escape the Blitz - let alone there was a library in it helping people to survive through the joy and excitement of reading. Kate Thompson's book paints a believable picture of wartime London, this unique place to live, the problems of women in the time period - all with a wonderful story about family, friendship, and love helping people stay human. It's a good read.
