I honestly couldn't put this book down. The premise, the characters, the way Abigail makes Hades burn off the page - it's incredible.

The chapters are short enough that - 'just one more' - turned into quarter of a book at a time, and although there are many comparisons made to other books of its ilk (Percy Jackson/Hunger Games crossover) - this stood out for me. I kind of always wanted to read an adult version of both of those - so it worked in my favour.

Lyra's story was unique and mysterious enough that I wanted to know more about her, the life of a thief, how she refused to let people close, but was so drawn to Hades from the get-go. Their attraction and pull to the other was immediate yet drawn out which worked so well within the overarching trials.

If you like -

- touch her and die
- deadly trials
- morally grey MMC
- chosen one (in a way)
- slow burn
- smart ass FMC
- twisted Greek mythology
- Cerberus is a good boy
