This works better as a dystopian/dark sci-fi or horror. The sex scenes are written in a way that sort of cheapens the narrative and break immersion via sort of awkward objectification by the author, to the point it feels like it would be better without them, but I do at the same time appreciate the honesty in it. It’s like, “ok, this is clearly here as it is because the author thinks it’s hot.” I am not someone these sex scenes were written for, but stuck it out for the emotional rollercoaster because I’m also a horror fan and it evoked the same headspace. This is SUPER dark and uncomfortable in a way that shows earnest narrative effort to craft something that feels real enough with an understanding of emotion and the existential unfairness in how power is abused and what it feels like to not be able to fight it.
There is a bit of a cartoonish aspect to the villains but having been alone in rooms with men that think they can get away with it, anything they say is rarely poetry, it’s the stupidest shit to ever come out of anyone’s mouth. So the scenes feel a little too blunt from a story telling standpoint, they don’t make a GREAT scene relying solely on their vulgarity, but also
