Auren is just not likeable at all. Her naivety drives me to the brink of insanity and I have no compassion for the things she went through or the things she will be going through later in the book. The story, while interesting as a retelling of the King Midas myth, is unfortunately overshadowed with an unlikeable FMC and while I understand that this series is a slow burn, the fact that the love interest hasn't shown himself yet in the first half of the first book is a little disappointing. I am not willing to put myself through one whole book just to be told that it gets better in Book 2.
