I was surprised by this book. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. The story has some interesting characters, and really fascinating lore that is slowly uncovered as you read through.
I was hesitant to pick up this book, and it was one that has never been high on my radar. My hesitance was around the fact that the first book was published about 35 years ago, and formula's for books and writing styles change overtime. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it as much. I'm happy that I did end up enjoying it. This world has so much lore that I want to dive down deeper into. The magic system is also not something I have often seen in YA fantasy so it was a nice refresher.
I'm very much interested to see where this series goes, especially as there is a 28 year gap between the first book and the last in the series. It will be interesting to see if the writing style or pacing changes over the series because of time it spans.
