Směšné lásky by Milan Kundera

I read this book as a required reading for school. I was very surprised that erotic stories would be something I would have to read for school. Honestly, I enjoyed reading it better than I expected BUT. The characters in these stories reminded me of something between the poets and Danny Smiřický. Štěpán from the poets and Danny may have had a similar desire for eroticism and women to these characters, but they had a kind of funny ignorance, even stupidity and romanticism, which these characters lack. I can't say that there is hatred of women here, but women are objectified. Or at least that's how it seems to me. I just love sex and what if i have a wife, as the head doctor said in one of the stories "unfortunately I am happily married and unfortunately I am in love with the doctor present here (his mistress)". I'm not saying that the women themselves didn't get into those sexual fights voluntarily, but the objectification is what's at stake here. Why was it about who was the bigger whore? And the funniest thing is that these men considered themselves worthy of respect, thanks to the number of women they were with. The funny thing, maybe even sadder, is how for a woman it would automatically mean that she was something less than the others. Many times it felt sad to me, for example, in the story where there was a young couple who played random men in a car and a hitchhiker "I no longer saw her as my shy girl, but as a whore, I had a hard time finding pity" HELLOOOOO?! I'm not saying that there weren't funny passages (for example, my favorite "he leaned against a poplar and smoked nonchalantly") and as I say, it was a good read for me, unfortunately or maybe fortunately, I can't get over the behavior of men. And yes, I am aware of the other important topics that he deals with here and I liked their realization, it was different.
