I wanted so hard to enjoy this book, so much I tried so hard. The idea of a group of southern belles fighting vampires felt like a book for me. An interesting conglomerate of things I enjoy for some reason.
And then I heard about books like Horrorstor and My Best Friends Exorcisim and I was like oh I've found a treasure trove but in reality, it was just a stack of disappointment.
At first I thought maybe I'd misunderstood and this book was just a commentary on events like the satanic panic but from the adult's perspective. So I dug into the reviews for this book in a way I hadn't before.
All while continuing to listen in some desperate hope that it would get better. But the few less then positive reviews I found told me in reality what lied ahead if I could get past the dull characters was a level of uncomfortableness I'd experienced already in some of the scene descriptions was only going to increase.
Which finally gave me the courage to just shelve this but I felt such a level of guilt for it that I still can't place.
