Anita Amirrezvani wrote my favourite book, The Blood of Flowers, and I've finally got around to reading her other one. Like The Blood of Flowers, it is a story about women in 1500's Iran.
This is a gripping political saga reimagining the life of Princess Pari Khan Khanoom, told with sweeping, vivid imagery, political intrigue, and a completing eunuch as a narrator that captures a depth of feeling and culture with verisimilitude. A spellbinding, compelling read.
