I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai
5.0
"With all the bad stuff going on in those days, we needed small, small reasons to love laugh".
I Am Malala, the girl who stood up for education and was shot by the taliban. First of all, I am ashamed to called this taliban group of people as Muslim, because Muslims does not do such thing!
The intro began with the scene she and her friend was shot. Then the story of her life since she was born. They had always wanted a boy but are grateful when Malala was born. Her parents believe in her. They believe she was born to fly up high and became someone important. And their beliefs turns out to be true. She is a fighter for education to be given equally to the girls. Not only the girls, but to those who are in poverty. She wanted to help people to change their lives through education.
There is so many things; bad situation happening in Swat. War, politics, some Islamist Mufti and Mullah trying to rob the girls freedom of living. Its just unfair to be born as a girl during that time in Pakistan.
Malala is a bright student. When she speaks, people listened. When the girls right to go to school has been taken away, it does not stop Malala to study and she fight for it. As she was growing up, her father build the school. She begs her father to get the poor childrens to school, but her father resist because those childrens are the bread winner for their families. So she think of other alternatives.
I felt frightened most of the time as if my life is in danger. Malala is indeed born with unusual courage because she is calm most of the time. She is ready for the possibility of being shot because she spokes out especially in interviews done by the foreign tv, asking her what its like living under what it seems like the endless opressions feels like, and her thought about it.
From there on, she became their murder target. Though she is merely a teenager, the Taliban does not care. They want Malala and her father to stop speaking out.
The scene when she and her friends was shot is really gruesome. This is an inspiring, must-read memoir especially to our young women out there. I Am Malala is the icon for education. Not because she invented or found something that other people doesn't, but she fight for the right especially for girls to get an education.
