If you are struggling or are unsatisfied with how your life is going, read this book and let it give you a hug.
This is a short novella, about a tea monk and a robot, and it is somehow more poignant than most full-size novels I've read. Chambers managed to build a world with rich history and religion while also delivering a message that everyone needs to hear every once in a while.
Our tea monk, Dex, is trying to find meaning and fulfillment in their life and career, and they find wisdom in a robot named Mosscap, "You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don’t know how to answer that because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don’t need to justify that or earn it. You are allowed to just live."
This is a book I will come back to every time I'm feeling down and need a pick me up. It's also something I will be recommending to every person I talk to about books.
