The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
slow-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Plot
- Strong character development? No
- Loveable characters? It's complicated
- Diverse cast of characters? Yes
- Flaws of characters a main focus? No
2.0
I want to state for the record that I only persevered to finish this through sheer spite, stubbornness and the 2.0x speed audiobook.
- The characters should have united earlier in the story.
- There were too many POVs and the accents, locations and identities all started to blur.
- I think this should have been at least 2 books and all the POVs organised or grouped together very differently to make it engaging.
- I don’t think I gave a shit until well past the 50%/400 page mark.
- The dragons weren’t utilised to their potential.
I might edit this review with a more well rounded opinion if I can muster up a fuck to give but until then, I think I’ve given enough of my time to this book.
