I loved this historical romance!
It had all the staples of the sub genre- the inherent eroticism of having someone remove your glove, a gunshot in the gambling den, daddy issues, and a mysterious plot to extort the gentleman (?) for an ancient Russian icon.
So, yeah, this book had it all.
But it also had one of my favorite heroines of all time. She was clever, bold, unapologetically sensual, and tough as nails.
A lot of the time, historical romances feel like they fall into the pattern of one party (usually the woman) being educated on the world (sexually and otherwise) but that wasn’t a driving force of the story here. It was refreshing.
