An insightful look into the Japanese American incarceration camps from the 1940’s through the eyes of Kiku, a 16yo who travels back in time to witness her Grandmother’s time spent in one of these camps.
Heartbreaking and powerful and particularly relevant to youth and adults living in 2025.
I didn’t really know much about the incarceration camps other than that they existed, prior to reading this book and it was easy to draw connections between what has been happening between Trump’s first presidency and now especially with ICE and it’s crackdowns in the United States, as well as what we have witnessed in Palestine and specifically Gaza over the last year.
