I think this may be middle grade or younger YA, which isn't my usual genre, and so I found this to be a pleasant surprise. It is fast paced and the magic has some elements of horror that kept me enthralled. I think this is a YA book written with the younger side of the audience in mind and recommend it for younger readers.
