Really?

So many questions...what is Mariah's background? Why did she become a courtesan? How many lovers did she have in the past? How could she be so blind about Owen? Why is John so reluctant to have a relationship with Mariah after Owen's death? What happened in the past between John and his father? What is the deal with Adam, John's brother? Why is this book written in such a clumsy manner, veering from grossly stilted to unbelievably foul modern dialogue. Save yourself the trouble and skip this mess!
