"Ever'boy's always sayin' I gotta love my mama. 'She gave birth to you' - who cares? That don't mean nothin' to me. Just 'cause she gave birth to me, I'm in her debt forever? I owe her love 'cause she chose to have me?? The bitch makes it sound like I decided to be borned, like I made her do it!"

What a devastating story. It was a very quick read, I couldn't put it down. That said, huge content warnings for those interested. I definitely advise looking those up before beginning this book.
When I read the description - "From spending their grim childhood in a ramshackle trailer with an unstable, cruel mother who prostitutes Jonathan out to fund her meth addiction, through a brutal murder that permanently alters their relationship, and into their adulthood, where Chastity begins to take increasing sadistic joy in controlling and tormenting her poor brother." - my initial reaction was along the lines of: Noo, I don't want her to. I still don't want her to, lol, but this was just so written. I'm a sucker for stories that don't follow the typical "happy ending" most stories seem to gravitate towards, no matter their content. I love a good book that rips my heart out and crushing it underfoot. That's exactly what this was.
"...Told from Chastity's unique perspective, Snow White in His Glass Coffin dares you to empathize with two deeply disturbed people who commit and attempt to rationalize their unspeakable, brutal crimes." - This is a perfect description. The content is often rough to digest, you follow these two kids throughout their horrible childhood, into their adulthood. It was interesting to watch them over the years. To watch what trauma can do to a person, how generational trauma and violence is passed on. It was devastating to watch Chasity grow into her mother's shoes.
The very end of this story had me in tears.
