The Good, the Bad, and the Undead by Kim Harrison
5.0
Had an entire snow day to finish this book off and it did not disappoint me. What really drives stories for me are characters and this series is packed with all kinds of complex, interesting characters. The protagonist Rachel Morgan is wonderfully fleshed out. She's so determined and single-minded to the point where you want to reach through the pages and shake her for being so short-sighted and stubborn-but that is what makes her so real. The reader knows that she's doing things that will a, probably won't pan out how she likes it and b, will likely come back to bite her in the ass. I'm enjoying watching her abilities and her character grow. Likewise her relationship with Ivy is fascinating and complicated. It's so refreshing having a book that actually passes the Bechdel test commonly reserved for movies. The only drawback is that finishing this book only made me want to pick up the third book to see what shenanigans Rachel gets up to next.
