I was sold on this book by my friend referring to it as “kinda like a queernormative Grand Budapest Hotel in space” AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Every section jumped to a different third person limited focus which added to the mystery and world building effectively because you had to try to piece together the relationships between these characters and giving a multitude of different perspectives and back stories illustrated the vastness of the galaxy this story inhabits.
I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator and felt that her voice was very appropriately matched to the story as she sounded mostly informative and straight laced, but she was also effective at conveying the fun and the mystery and the excitement with tone changes throughout- Lauryn Allman’s voice is perfect for this book.
Big thank you to Netgalley for my ARC of this!
