The Secret of Our Success: How Culture Is Driving Human Evolution, Domesticating Our Species, and Making Us Smarter by Joseph Henrich
4.0
This book gave me an appreciation for culture and cultural transmission, as well as why a lot of cultural practices exist. I particularly liked the notion that for the longest time in humanity's history, being curious about things was a reliable way to get killed, due to which our cultural systems are resistant to change.
Solid book overall, with lots of great examples. Why do tribes use oracle bones for forecasting where they should hunt? It's more rational than it seems at first glance.
