1 is too harsh since i don't really consider it a terribly written book so i'm giving it an extra .5 for being, at the very least, competently written. but it's just. so. cliched. and i don't usually mind cliche but at least, idk, be fun and cliche! this wasn't even all that fun. also, so many pop culture references. too many. and it never really felt all that natural or organic.
