Whiteout by Ann Grech was a short, fast paced romance. While I thought the connection between the characters was decent, I felt like there wasn’t a lot of time for them to develop the intensity of that connection, which made it read more like obsession than real romance. I felt like a lot of scenes came across as rushed, including the uncounted with Reef’s ex at the hotel. It all just seemed too easy, without much in the way of developmental pressure. While this wasn’t my favorite romance that I’ve read, I did enjoy their meeting and how the plot unfolded, I just wish it had taken its time instead of moving full-steam ahead. I wanted more time to get to know these characters, and see them interact with each other as well as other characters in the novel. I don’t feel like I know much outside of what we were told, and there was very little to read between the lines for more depth. If you’re looking to diversify your romance, however, this is a MM romance, the only other of which I’ve personally read was Red, White, and Royal Blue. This book was short and to the point, but if you like your romance a little more detailed and developed, I would probably skip this one. If you’re looking for a quick filler read for the fun of reading it, then I would definitely take a day or two to enjoy this one.
