This book did a wonderful job encouraging the reader to question what types of words we value (personally, culturally, subconsciously) and the types of knowledge/communication we consider "valid". As mentioned in the author's note- even though the title describes the following story as A Day With No Words, there are words being used throughout the story- just in non-vocalized terms.
The imagery accompanying the description of his families voices was stunning. It was also an interesting thought experiment- what do the voices around me evoke? How is my own voice interacting with my environment?
I think I need to dance barefoot in some damp grass asap.
