The Reunion by Kayla Olson
3.0
2.5 stars. I love second chance romance trope, and I really thought I would love this novel but it was simply not for me. I found the leads to be somewhat superficial, Ransom especially. They didn't have that spark, that pizzazz. They had a history, but it was very tell, not show. Like the Shanghai flight that was hyped up so much and ended up being...she rested her head on his shoulder and he considered asking him out? Nah, I'll need more than that.
The supporting characters were also blah. I kept waiting for Sasha-Kate to be something more, and instead she was just a punchingbag set up to be Liv's foil. Bre and Ford were very stereotypical best friend characters. Not to mention, I couldn't stand the faux "news" articles between each chapter, which were tedious and oddly written. And why do they live in a parallel universe where are the social media is Flitter bird and Snapaday?? Why not just use Twitter and Snapchat/Instagram???
This review makes it sound like I really hated the book. That's not true; in the end, it was just fine. That's it.
