parts of this i enjoyed - catfishing awful people, attacking horrible men, scaring children while dressed as elsa - but there's simply not enough of that to outweigh the constant internal monologue that's just dry and repetitive. i understand we're "paying homage to patrick bateman" here, but this just didn't work in a way that made for an exciting read. i also didn't get the vibe-heavy LA scene i was promised in reviews, but maybe i set myself up for disappointment for once again thinking a booktok popular book would be my next fave.
i love horror. i can appreciate some splatterpunk. i love vibe-y books. i love women's wrongs. this one just didn't do it for me.
the book does pick up in the last 1/5, starting from thehollywood party & on, but the road to get there is rough and boring. after the first 50 pages it just becomes a bad creepypasta story.
