The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2014 by Daniel Handler

3.0

As with any collection, this book has a lot I liked and a lot I didn't like. I thought overall there is some great talent in this book and I really enjoyed many of the pieces throughout. I will say that the subject matter selected for this book seemed pretty dark, which I was not expecting. Usually there is more of a balance, unless of course the collection is meant to showcase a particular subject. I just found myself needing to put the book down a few times to take a break from the heavier topics.
