Venus Drive by Sam Lipsyte
5.0
I loved this so much, way more than I expected to. It totally bleaks out from first story to last, and I appreciate it all. I've already given love to "Admiral of the Swiss Navy," but shoutout also to "Less Tar," "Cremains," "Ergo, Icepick," and "Probe to the Negative." A wonderful Lishian volume I won't soon forget, marked up with endless notes to try to deconstruct how all the stories were made, how they got so good, etc.
****
I'm peremptorily giving this five stars because I just read "Admiral of the Swiss Navy" three times in a row and felt compelled to write notes in the margins. I never write notes in the margins. (The other stories have been class too, really good.)
