“i always like catching him in moments like this, observing and cataloging the details of a new life that i continue to fall more in love with each day.“

at times like this i really wish the rating scale went above five stars, because this would absolutely be given a million stars out of five.

faye was so. damn. sexy. she’s most definitely one of my favourite characters now, and i can’t wait to see if she makes a cameo in book three, i cannot get enough of her. the way she worked undercover was written so well, even though i hate that she had to be in contact and actually physically (not sexually, don’t worry) touch that nasty, slimy man. she loved her sister so much, even though she had to leave her five years ago. the title really speaks to the plot and the characters, because secrets? every damn person in this book absolutely knows her on a first-name basis, not one single character isn’t hiding a secret from at least one other person.

moving on to lincoln “you sound so pretty when you’re pissed off and moaning for me” foxx… i need him just as badly as i need faye, and i need them both together asap. anyway, that man was not only sexy as hell and a damn good sweet talker, he was so, so good to his kids. he had his moments where he felt like he wasn’t doing enough or giving them enough, but he loved them so hard and so loud that i got teary-eyed at least three (probably more) times over how good he was to his daughters. i mean, the highland cow? slightly unserious but also adorable as hell. as much as he hated to admit it early on, he was infatuated by faye and would literally do anything for her, including keeping one of her biggest secrets. the more i read, the more needy and obsessed he got, and i was sooooo into it.

now the plot twist toward the end? i can’t lie and say i was expecting it because i truly wasn’t, and it’s a plot twist that had me GASPING at my screen. i knew that something seemed off, but i definitely wasn’t expecting that.

this book deserves a million sexy stars, and i am so freaking ready for book three!!
