Damn, Mockingjay (and the hunger games series as a whole) is so much better than I remembered it being. Prim’s character is so much more detailed and fleshed out as far as her personality, desires, and relationships with others (including the cat). There are characters in the book with descriptions and personalities that didn’t make it into the movies (Delly Cartwright, Bonnie and Twill who escaped district 8, etc). I don’t know if I just forgot all these details or if I never picked up on them, but Suzanne Collins did a phenomenal job creating such a complex world with unique characters (especially when through the perspective of an unreliable narrator like katniss) and still writing it in a way that is accessible to a younger audience
Rereading this series as an adult was so much fun. I loved getting sucked back into a world I haven’t touched in years, relearning all of the details and understanding some of the harder concepts in ways I couldn’t fathom when I read it as a young teenager.
