In this 20th book of this beloved series, Koko, Yum Yum, and Qwill must solve 2 murders. An elderly woman who died in a house fire and a young female artist. The cats get really into birdwatching and Qwill knows they're close to solving the case. After awhile you think how many die before you move away from a town? Pickax isn't a big town, so I feel like it's just cursed to live here. Still this is one of my go to re-reads.
