I really enjoyed the characters & the plot of this book, but the pacing was off for me. The romance had good tension and slow burn, but it felt like the romance plot was wrapped up at 80% and all the family drama & ballet subplot was shoved to the last 20%. I wish those things could have unfolded and wrapped up simultaneously.
I LOVED Sage. As an ex dancer myself, I love that she brought attention to the bad relationship between dancers & body image and disordered eating. But I extra appreciated that Sage had done the work to heal that already and she wasn't afraid to eat pasta or cupcakes. I loved that Sage was witty, flirty, funny, confident and strong. I loved watching her slowly open up not just to Elias, but to his friends & family. I would have loved to see more Sage & Summer girl time.
Elias was just kind of the perfect man. He was so caring and sweet. We often see so many overly cocky hockey players in books, this felt like a breath of fresh air. Elias was exactly what Sage needed and even though he tried to fight his feeling, he was obviously obsessed. I enjoyed his storyline trying to get out of his head and get his first NHL goal, but the subplot with his birth father felt random & didn't add much to the overall story for me (same for Sage's ex bf storyline).
Great side characters as always. I am really hoping we get Sage's brother's story once he gets to university.
