The Butcher and the Wren by Alaina Urquhart

4.0

As a fan of the Morbid podcast, I had a good feeling I was going to like this book, simply because I like Alaina's quirky, scientific mind already. If this was a show, I'd watch it faithfully because it would be fun and Wren would make a great character that could last far beyond the books even. This was a fast paced cat & mouse thriller that kept you guessing and brilliantly, yet casually, drops a twist on you that you didn't even think could be a thing. The only thing I didn't love is the male narrator doing Jeremy's chapters just didn't have the right voice for me, he was too jovial and "game show host" and that is NOT what I would have thought someone like Jeremy would sound or act like.
