The Reunion by Kayla Olson
5.0
The Reunion by Kayla Olson is story about a cast of movie stars who reunite more than a decade later to film a short reunion for their fan base. It touches upon friendship, love, family pressures, and life challenges, such as grief and loss, while making career decisions if producers green light a full return of the show: stay or move on.
Initially, I was worried this book was going to read too much as YA (Young Adult), but I absolutely loved it and fell in love with the main characters, Liv and Ransom! It reminded me of the show Gossip Girl, in regards to the social media influence and catty jealousy, intertwined with romance. Loved how some chapters were read as blog columns about the cast. My absolute favorite quotes are relatable to the news we see today on social media about celebrities: “everyone has an opinion about what I should or should not do with my life” and “no one cares about truths, only headlines.” Reading these blogs as chapters mixed in is also what made this a unique read for me as I’ve never come across something like this before. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a very light, witty, and romantic read.
