2.5

To put it simply, I am disappointed by this read. Not completely, as I do still give it 2.5 stars, but I wanted so much more.

While I enjoyed the flashes to the past in both Jess and Storey's lives, I would have been willing to give them up if it meant more explanation as to what on earth was going on there in Maine. But...without the backstory, there would not have been nearly as much heart. It's complicated.

I hated the ending - no resolution, many loose ends, little explanation. Again, disappointing.

I enjoyed Heller's writing style, as I did in The Guide, but man, I just wanted more. The premise was so interesting to me and I felt it could've been done so much better.
