This novella was so beautiful yet so sad. I kept asking myself how such a short story could have one of the most powerful stories I’ve ever read. Fredrik Backman truly wrote a powerful story about the happiness and love about life, but the grief and loss you can experience too.

He portrayed emotions so perfectly in this. Confusion, lost, pain, and happiness all played a role in bringing this story to life. One minute you find yourself smiling at happy old memories of this man and his wife, who has passed, to him in the present forgetting things. Truly breaks your heart. This one hit close to home as well. I was able to find myself relating and understanding the situation being portrayed to us. I wish it upon nobody.
