Dreams Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross

There was a point when I was reading this that I said it was predictable, because I thought I had figured something out before the author wanted me to. That was not the case, and I’m so glad it wasn’t!
Ahhh this book *chefs kiss*
Okay, so the worldbuilding is so fantastical it’s brilliant how it was tied into the story line! And all of the hints about it, through stories and just little lines were the perfect foreshadowing!
And the characters were utterly brilliant! Clem made so many mistakes, but it made her human and her growth was amazing! Not to mention the other characters, who were all so different and incredible in their own ways!
As much as I loved the ending, it did feel a bit rushed though. And the pacing of the middle-ish portion of the book made it hard to keep picking up, but aside from that, truly a wonderful book. It reminds me of Sorcery of Thorns. And the formatting of it as a novel was perfect! I would totally recommend this, especially to someone who is fascinated by dreams or who needs a lighter fantasy that’ll make you smile at the end. And I would definitely reread!
Overall, great book and great characters. Loved how the world-building was tied into the plot. However, I think there were some pacing issues in the middle (too long) and the end (too rushed), so it won’t get you out of a reading slump, but it was still a great read. Would totally recommend and reread, and I would practically throw it at someone who is fascinated by dreams and needs a good fantasy book.
